Looking for a Lab-Rat

Last week in a comment to my post about rethinking the blog, James from Men With Pens suggested that I get myself a lab-rat – I mean volunteer – who would be interested in sharing their own Someday Journey on an ongoing basis. Always willing to steal – I mean acknowledge – good ideas when I see them, I'm going to implement this when I redevelop the blog in the coming weeks.

I'm therefore looking for someone who wants to start their own journey to get rid of the word someday from their life. You don't need to want to go my extreme route of selling everything and moving to a different country. I just want someone who wants to make a conscious decision to pursue happiness and to share the journey with the world (the sharing can be anonymous).

Each week, I'll give the lab-rat – oops! volunteer – a Someday Exercise related to one of the three Someday variants (Someday My Ship Will Come In, I'll Get Around To It Someday, and I Might Need It Someday), then via email, you'll tell me how the exercise went and I'll comment on it in the blog.

If you're interested send me an email to the link on the left-hand side of the blog briefly describing your current situation and why you believe you're affected with Someday Syndrome.

Someday Lessons:

• It's not all about me.
• Learning happens best when we get multiple perspectives on a subject.

@Alex - ya, and knowing James, he literally told you to get a lab-rat and is revelling in this human experiment. Cool idea though. As you know, my Someday has come and gone, and is a Nowday!!! So, that rules me out.

Hi Alex,

What a great thing! I just came back from MCC Toronto church today. I've been attending a workshop called based on the book "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. Oprah ran one and is running another 10 week workshop on the www.

It is about being in the now. Just doing now what needs to be done and not being bogged down by past or future. I bet you've read it too.

And, now, I've started the email marketing program at the address above. I've tied it into Habitat for Humanity with 10% of ongoing fees to them. And, I find myself stuck on sales which is usually my toughest thing. Marketing is alright for me but sales is not my easiest thing.

So, today, I'm also talking to someone about attending again in September. And, I'm considering volunteering as a facilitator for some of the breakouts.

Touche Alex! Why do you do it? Have you considered a skype workshop?!

What a great post! Many difficult journies are accomplished when one brings someone along for the ride - be it a "lab rat," another "Someday" sufferer, or just someone who is happy to help YOU on your journey.

Your "someday lessons" say it all - they are quite powerful! Before you even posted this, I saw a "someday" lesson in the comment you left on MY site.

You have already motivated me to "someday" give fantasy reading another try. I've already ordered 2 of the books you mentioned online, and anxiously await their arival!

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you've picked some of the suggestions to read. I was thinking the same about your list, specifically To Kill a Mockingbird. I've seen the movie, but I've never read the book. Maybe I'll do a double challenge and read a Spanish translation of it.

Then we can take the journey together! I'd love to compare notes with you. One of the "neat things" about TKAM is that the author NEVER wrote another book. She felt that people's expectations of her were so high, that she'd never be able to write another book that was NOT compared back to TKAM.

Plus, it's a short book! Also, though quite different - but taking place in a Spanish-speaking South American country -is "The Bridge of San Luis Rey." It is SO short as to be considered a "novella" by most people.

So, fellow lab rat/guinea pig - let's see how we do!

PS...My REAL "Someday" wish is to write a book as good as "To Kill a Mockingbird!" But that's a VERY lofty goal!
